Zoe’s Place Middlesbrough is a charity providing much-needed support to families with children with life-threatening illnesses. The charity offers a home-from-home environment where children receive the best care while their families take much-needed respite. Chris, a marketing professional at MGC, delivered several strategy meetings to the fundraising team to help the charity hit its current year’s targets and set goals for the future.

Chris’s years of experience in marketing made him well-equipped to put several ideas into action that would support the charity’s cause. One of the critical elements of the strategy was to highlight the hourly cost of providing specialist one-to-one care, which was £29 per hour per child. This is a significant expense that families cannot afford, especially during these difficult financial times. The children rely on specialist nurses to provide essential clinical care, support, aromatherapy massage, respite care, and light and music therapy.

To address this issue, Zoe’s Place Middlesbrough put multiple ways to contact local and business organisations with the question, “How many hours can you support?” This allowed donations as little as £29 per year up to companies funding weeks, months, and even years. This is collected every year, ensuring the charity receives ongoing support.

Thanks to Chris’s help, people can now donate through JustGiving and a specialist text facility, making it easier for them to contribute to the cause. The fundraising team was impressed with Chris’s ideas during his visit to the hospice. The plans and targets they set will help raise vital funding for the charity.
