MGC.Agency has designed and built the UK’s first free peer to peer support Mobile App Development for Mental Health developed in a bid to help people with mental health issues find friendship and support, whatever their state of mind.
The ‘Unmasked’ Mobile App is designed to enable users to create bonds with people they wouldn’t ordinarily meet, to bridge a gap between appointments with mental health specialists.
Unmasked is a free Mobile App, built around research and consultation with a number of mental health charities and agencies in the UK. Users can choose to appear masked (using an emoji to convey their state of mind) or unmasked as themselves. The system helps people form friendships with other users with mental health issues – users can search by age, location and illness to chat with peers to give and receive support in times of need.
So Imagine an Moble App where you can search a community of users who are in the same mood as you, filter the same age (if you require), location and illness. Be instantly connected with people that care.
Our aim is simple, to provide somewhere to share your problems, support and be supported.
One of the fantastic features of the Unmasked Mobile App is the “How are you feeling today”? Feature. Let people know how you feel so they can support you in the best possible way. If you are looking to support others, you can search for users who most need your help. It’s a great way to show your feelings without getting too personal.
The whole concept behind Unmasked is we want to create a secure and positive environment where you can freely chat to people for support or be supported. Unmasked Mobile App allows you to register wholly anonymous either by your first name or a user name. No need for profile pictures and in-depth personal details, this is where you will be “masked”.
Working conditions and environment can have a huge impact on mental health and, equally, the mental health of workers can have a significant impact on how well they perform in their job.
• 1 in 6.8 people are experiencing mental health problems in the workplace (14.7%)
• Evidence suggests that 12.7% of all sickness absence days in the UK can be attributed to mental health conditions
• Better mental health support in the workplace can save UK businesses up to £8 billion per year
